Maruti Suzuki closed December 2025 with the Baleno leading its wholesale sales, as demand returned to compact cars. The hatchback topped the dispatch chart at 22,108 units, ahead of the Fronx, Dzire, and Tata Nexon.

The result extended a recovery trend that began during the festive season. Maruti Suzuki linked the shift to lower taxes under the GST 2.0 regime and year-end offers.

Baleno leads Maruti Suzuki's wholesale mix in December 2025

Maruti Suzuki’s December 2025 wholesale ranking showed compact nameplates taking the top positions. The Baleno led with 22,108 units, while the Fronx followed at 20,700 units.

The Dzire placed third with 19,100 units, and the Swift followed with 18,800 units. The Brezza rounded out the top five at 17,700 units, keeping utility vehicles in the mix.

The December lead contrasted with the full-year picture. For calendar year 2025, the Dzire led Maruti Suzuki volumes at close to 2.14 lakh units.

December also highlighted entry-level demand. Maruti Suzuki dispatched about 10,000 Alto units, including about 4,000 S-Presso units.

GST rate reduction and discounts lift compact car demand

Maruti Suzuki attributed the compact car rebound to the GST rate reduction for smaller cars. Lower sticker prices improved affordability and supported inquiries for hatchbacks and compact sedans.

Dealers also benefited from December discount campaigns aimed at clearing MY2025 inventory. As a result, models like Baleno, Fronx, Dzire, and Swift regained share during a market that still favors SUVs.

Maruti’s record December caps best-ever 2025 performance

Maruti Suzuki reported its strongest December on record across dispatches and retail registrations. Domestic wholesale sales reached 182,165 units, up 37.5% year on year.

Maruti Suzuki cited broad-based segment growth in the quarter. The company reported third-quarter dispatches of 537,433 units and retail sales of 6.83 lakh units.

Growth tracked across price bands. Mini cars rose nearly 92 percent, while compact cars rose 43 percent. Utility vehicles grew 32.6 percent.

The mid-size SUV segment recorded about 38,000 unit sales during December. Maruti Suzuki said Victoris delivered 14,000 retail sales and crossed 70,000 bookings during 2025.

Retail sales in December reached 2.86 lakh units, exceeding the prior December high of 2.52 lakh units. Dealer stock stayed near three days, while pending bookings stood near 1.75 lakh units.
