Mercedes-Benz India has launched the high-performance GLS AMG Line — the most powerful GLS AMG model ever to be introduced in India. Starting at Rs. 1.40 crore for the petrol‑powered GLS 450 AMG Line and Rs. 1.43 crore for the diesel‑powered GLS 450d AMG Line (ex‑showroom), this luxury SUV captures both athletic sophistication and super‑SUV capability.

Performance and Power

Under the bonnet, both models get a 3.0‑litre inline‑six engine in sync with a 9G‑TRONIC automatic and the capable 4MATIC all‑wheel‑drive system. The fuel-injected GLS 450 has 375 bhp and 500 Nm, and the diesel GLS 450d has 362 bhp and a strong 750 Nm.

Acceleration from standstill to 100 km/h takes a sprightly 6.1 seconds, and both get electronically restricted to 250 km/h.

AMG Styling & Design

Aesthetically, the GLS AMG Line gets signature AMG detailing: a dramatic front bumper with large intakes, flared wheel arches, a rear diffuser, and AMG side panels. The Night Package, available optionally, darkens the sporty feel with gloss‑black exterior mirror trim, window trim, roof rails, and a dark‑chrome radiator grille.

Finishing off the outside are massive 21‑inch AMG alloy wheels, while the front brakes get perforated discs and Mercedes‑branded calipers.

Interior: Sport Intersects Luxury

Within, the interior has an AMG-focussed atmosphere: nappa leather multifunction steering wheel with gearshift paddles, stainless‑steel pedals with the AMG logo, and floor mats featuring AMG badges. A three‑twin‑spoke and chrome trim contribute to the sporty nature.

Market Momentum

The launch of this flagship model is timed with Mercedes‑Benz India achieving its all-time-best Q1 sales in fiscal 2025‑26, selling 4,238 units between April and June, an increase of 10% year‑on‑year. MD & CEO Santosh Iyer credits the boom to increasing demand for luxury and BEV vehicles at the high end.

Why It Should Matter

GLS on Indian roads is over 16,000 now, with the AMG Line making a strong case for its entry, enthralled with the flagship luxury aura and race-inspired design with brutish performance. The 0 to 100 km/h sprint times and top speeds align with global AMG standards, a rare amalgamation of attitude and excellence.

Bottom Line

The GLS AMG Line marks Mercedes-Benz India's entry into the ultra-luxury, performance-SUV market space. Priced at approximately Rs. 1.40 - 1.43 crore, it brings unique AMG looks, track-worthy acceleration, and luxury interiors; just right for customers who desire commanding presence without compromising on performance.
