State Bank of India (SBI) has marked a significant milestone by winning two awards at the 2025 Global Finance Awards, held during the World Bank and IMF Annual Meetings. The bank was awarded the honor of "World's Best Consumer Bank 2025" and "Best Bank in India 2025."
These awards highlight SBI's dedication to innovation, digitization, and consumer-driven banking. Challa Sreenivasulu Setty, Group Chairman, SBI, asserted that the bank's "Digital First, Consumer First" strategy has been instrumental in serving its large customer base.
With over 520 million customers and around 65,000 new accounts opened every day, SBI's key mobile app has more than 100 million users, of whom 10 million interact daily.
As of June 2025, SBI had a deposit base of over Rs. 54.73 lakh crore and advances of over Rs. 42.54 lakh crore. The bank's home loan book has crossed Rs. 8.5 lakh crore, helping approximately 30 lakh Indian families achieve their dream of owning a home. SBI also holds 27.7% market share in home loans and 19.03% in auto loans.
These awards testify to SBI's leadership position in the global banking industry and to its commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction.
