SBI, HDFC, and Kotak will implement credit card changes from July 2025, including revised fees, discontinued insurance benefits, and card replacements affecting millions of users.

SBI Card has recently made a few critical changes to credit cards, with the new modifications becoming applicable immediately after July 15, 2025. The bank will scrap free air accident insurance across premium and co-branded cards. The issued cards include SBI Card ELITE, Miles ELITE, Miles PRIME, PRIME and Pulse. These cards with Rs 1 crore and Rs 50 lakh insurance cover will also not be applicable.

SBI Card will alter the formula to calculate the Minimum Amount Due (MAD). The MAD will include 100% of GST, EMI instalments, charges, finance costs, and 2% of the remainder dues, on and after July 15. The new order of payment settlement will revolve around GST, then followed by EMI, charges, finance charges, balance transfers, retail spends, and last but not least, cash advances. Currently, the change applies to UCO Bank SBI Card ELITE and Central Bank of India SBI Card ELITE.

HDFC Bank Adds Charges on Gaming and Utility Payments

HDFC Bank has adopted new credit card transaction fees since July 1, 2025. These changes entail a 1% transaction fee on skill-based gaming spending exceeding Rs 10,000 monthly. A similar fee is imposed on wallet loads done monthly that are more than 10,000 rupees and payments on utility bills above 50,000 rupees. With a business credit card, the limit of utility bill payment is increased to Rs 75,000.

Reward points will not be issued for gaming spending. Though transactions made with insurance will still be exempt from the new fees, there will now be caps in terms of monthly rewards on all types of cards. Infinia members can earn up to 10,000 reward points monthly, compared to the Diners Club Black members, whose limit will be 5,000. The rest of the cards will carry a monthly limit of 2,000 points.

Kotak Mahindra Bank to Replace Myntra Card

Kotak Mahindra Bank will terminate the Myntra Kotak Credit Card on July 10, 2025. Customers who possess this card will be automatically converted to a Kotak League Credit Card. The bank will also advise cardholders to check the benefits and terms of the new card because the transition will remove the existing facilities attached to the Myntra co-branded product.

These alterations imply that all cardholders of the three banks are encouraged to stay informed about new developments and evaluate the implications of the new terms for their spending plans and reward capabilities.
